V-Day Ready

V-Day Props

Some of you may roll your eyes at this, but I am such a lover of Valentine's Day! I love the idea of taking a day to celebrate the people that you love in your life (and not just your significant other!). I remember when I was a kid and my mom would always get the little heart boxes with the chocolates in them, and I absolutely loved that! My love for Valentine's Day hasn't lessened at all, so with Valentine's Day just one month away (giving you plenty of time to prepare, haha), here are a few items to help you get ready to celebrate the day of love! My personal favorite would be the "don't go bacon my heart" mug!

I hope your week is going great!! Don't forget to follow along on GFC and Bloglovin, and feel free to leave a comment, I love to chat!

Layering Up

Turtleneck: Old Navy (on sale!) // Vest: Old Navy //
Skinny Jeans: American Eagle //
Booties: Last season Chinese Laundry this season // Glasses: Firmoo c/o

I don't know about where you live, but the past week here in Central Arkansas has been brutally cold! Yesterday we were supposed to get an ice storm, but luckily it was just barely warm enough (like 34 degrees) to keep it at rain instead of ice. Because of the cold, I have been continuing to bundle up like crazy! Sometimes I feel like I just can't get enough layers on to keep warm.

I also want to mention my glasses for a second. I have been wearing them in several posts lately, but they are from Firmoo, and they are absolutely wonderful! All you have to do is find a pair of glasses that you like (which are all super affordable), and then enter your prescription! It's so easy to get beautiful glasses that will match all your outfits!

Stay warm out there this week! Don't forget to follow along on GFC and Bloglovin!

Messy Bun

Turtleneck: Old Navy (on clearance!) // Shirt: Old Navy (on sale!) // Vest: Old Navy
// Skinny Jeans: American Eagle // Bracelet: Born Pretty Store c/o //
Necklace: The Sparkle Exchange // Booties: last season (Chinese Laundry this season)

One of my favorite things about a well put-together outfit is the way that it can completely offset things such as a messy bun, etc. Sometimes I just don't have the time to fix my hair in the mornings (or I just don't want to), and a cute little messy bun with a great outfit can end up looking great!

It's still very cold here in Central Arkansas, so I'm wearing layers on layers right now! Sometimes I almost laugh when I realize just how many layers I am wearing just to brave the cold! I hope you're staying warm where you are! School starts back today, so it's back to being busy all the time!

A Walk in the Park

Crew Neck Sweater: Forever 21 // Puffer Vest: Old Navy
// Blanket Scarf: Jane // Skinny Jeans: American Eagle //
Booties: Old from Chinese Laundry (This Season from Chinese Laundry)
// Glasses: Firmoo c/o

It's been really chilly in Central Arkansas this week, so I've been living in vests and blanket scarves lately! I'm enjoying my last few days of freedom from school, because tomorrow it starts back up for the semester! I'm not quite ready to get back to studying again, but it's another step toward finishing school at least!

I hope you're having a great week! Don't forget to follow along on GFC and Bloglovin!

Trends to Try in 2015

Trends to Try in 2015

Every year I try to check out features from fashion shows around the world and figure out what will be trending for the year, and I wanted to share a few of the trends that I have noticed lately! Many of these trends are straight from NY Fashion Week, and I am loving them!

1) Suede Dresses - I love this trend because it such a warmer fabric that is so perfect for Spring!

2) Fringe - This is such a fun trend, and it is popping up everywhere, from bags to tops to skirts!

3) Stripes - This is a classic look in general, but horizontal stripes are really trending this year!

4) Large Print Gingham - This print is on the rise for the Spring, especially for those picnics!

5) Ruffles - Ruffles are becoming more popular, and I especially love them on these booties!

6) Bell Bottom Jeans - Baby bells are getting more and more popular again, and it's a trend that I can't wait to try!

7) Ribbon Ties - Whether on a shirt or a dress, ribbon ties are really in style, and they do such a great job of adding shape to your body!

8) Tropical prints - Again, this is another trend that I think is so fun. Pineapples were big last year, now it's on to tropical looks.

9) Large Floral Prints - This spring and summer, lots of large floral prints should be popping up, and I am so excited about it! I love wearing floral prints!

10) Scallop - This has been trending on shorts lately, but it appears to be getting even more popular!

My personal favorite trends are the bell bottoms, fringe, and ruffles, just because I think they are fun, yet classic at the same time, which is much more of my style. What are your favorite trends for this year?

New Year's Resolutions

Let's talk for a minute about New Year's Resolutions. We all have things that we want to do in life, however, there is always something that you feel is in your way. You don't have enough time, school or work is too much for you, you have children to worry about...the list goes on. Today is the second day of the new year, and I saved this post for the second day, because I want you to know that it doesn't have to be the very first day of the year in order to start something or keep it going. This is something that you do day in and day out. It's not a resolution...it's a way of life.

In order to turn your goals into a way of life, there are a few things that you should know about them. They won't be easy, they won't come without trials, but they will be worth it. Here are a few things that I have learned about new year's resolutions.

1) If you have a goal, make a plan for it. Without a plan, it's hard to accomplish much of anything. Let's say that you really want to make some homemade bread, but you have no recipe for it. That homemade bread will be disastrous without a recipe, just like your goal will be a disaster without a plan. For every goal that you set, write out a few sentences of how you plan to accomplish that goal. For example, I have a goal that I want to study more. My plan for doing this is that every Sunday night, I plan to sit down and look at what assignments I have for the week and what I need to make a priority. Next, I plan to make myself study 2-3 hours per day without interruptions. Without this plan, I would surely resort back to my old ways very quickly.

2) Don't go it alone. If you really want to accomplish something, make sure that you include others in your goals. If you want to lose weight, get a workout buddy that will keep you accountable at the gym and in what you eat. See, if we go it alone and mess up, we'll just tell ourselves that we will do better next time. However, really quickly, we'll just resort to our old ways, and the goals will go by the wayside. However, if you're accountable to someone, we are generally don't like to admit when we've messed up, so you won't want to mess up. Plus, you have someone to encourage you along the way. Just like that, your goals have a much better chance of succeeding.

3) Don't give up. Did you know that it takes three weeks to make something a habit? It also takes less than three weeks for most people to give up on their new year's resolutions. Whatever you do, don't give up on your goals. If you're trying to lose weight, remember that it is healthiest to lose only 1-2 pounds per week. In three weeks, you're looking at maybe losing 3-6 pounds if you do everything perfectly. If it is your goal to make more healthy home-cooked meals, don't worry if you sometimes mess up and have to get take-out. The idea here is to keep trying, and the longer you do it, the more of a habit it will become. Once it becomes a habit, you'll be more on top of it, and you'll mess up less frequently. This brings me to my next point.

4) Don't beat yourself up for messing up. One of the biggest excuses I hear is this: "well, I already messed up a little, so I might as well just go for it all now." (especially when it comes to diets!). Don't give up if you mess up, and don't beat yourself up for it. You are human. Let me say that again. You are human. We are imperfect, and nothing is ever going to change that. You are inevitably going to mess up at some point, but the point is that you are trying, and you'll simply do better next time. The mess up should drive you to try even harder, and you'll be that much closer to success.

Each year I try to make myself some goals for the new year, and I wanted to share some of them with you (talk about accountability!).

1) Read through the Bible in a year.
2) Prepare healthy food at the beginning of the week for myself to eat all week.
3) Make sure I do some form of exercise at least 5 days per week.
4) Study more and better.
5) Don't let school take away from time with the people I love.

On top of having these goals, I also have a whole page of details on how I plan to make these goals happen. What goals do you have for the new year?
